Project Title: TYPE
Project Overview: TYPE is a book layout and design project that explores type classifications and a brief history of two typefaces within each classification. The book is designed to be elegant, emphasizing grace and beauty with minimal ornamentation, thus mimicking the majority of the type within it. The horizontal strokes enclose the typographic elements, grounding them within the vastly white pages. This also establishes a strong linear progression throughout the book, encouraging the reader to continue from page to page. It was difficult to allow such a minimal presentation in a culture that is visually over-stimulated, however, allowing the type’s beauty alone to be the focal point remained my primary theme.
